You are obviously “unique” or “out of the box”, can you tell me more?

Upon our first meeting, I gain insight into individuals interests, passions, likes and dislikes, expectations, and goals.
People can feel nervous, upset, curious, hopeless, desperate, angry, defiant, or resentful. I am dedicated to exploring not only how the individual is feeling but the behaviors leading them to these feelings.
The exploration process is different in every case. It might be a game, art, sand play, toy play, self-discovery questionnaires, walking to the local park, Dexter (Dog Therapist), Woody (Tortoise therapist), or just talking.
I learned back in my undergraduate days of college to punt. Meaning, you must always have something in your “bag of tricks” that leads someone to self-discovery. This has stayed with me for many years and it works. No matter the age, sex, race, culture, or personality.
You offer “home visits” what exactly is this?

A “home visit” offers me the opportunity to gain insight into family dynamics.
I will see a client in my office and participate in hours of discussion regarding behaviors, routines, habits, and dynamics of the family. Although this gives insight, it doesn’t give me the hands-on experience of what is going on in the home. This generally stems from uncertainty or frustration from parents and their desire to gain skills.
Most of the time, home visits occur with families who have children under the age of 16. This may be a toddler who won’t sleep in his bed, a 9-year-old whose defiance is running the household, or a family who needs organization and routine established. I offer hands on suggestions and skills training for the parents and children.
I also offer home visits to adults who would rather have a session in their home environment. This is after an initial session taken place in my office. A home visit for adults offers me insight into ones’ environment, surrounds, and dynamics of their home.
How long do you generally see client’s?
Are you considered a Christian Counselor or faith based?

I am a Christian. My faith is rooted in the Bible. I believe individuals have their own beliefs, customs, and allegiance in what they believe. It is not my role, responsibility, or intent to over-step religious beliefs or boundaries with anyone. Just like individuals are unique and different, so are their beliefs. I accept and respect this.
Do you see LGBTQ+ clients?

I am not one to judge, preach, convince, change, shame, degrade, or alter ones’ beliefs or life style. I personally feel sexuality can be a confusing complicated journey. Adding shame and judgement to any individuals thought process in my opinion, only focuses on judgement and condiment. This in turn, stops the growth process. Trust is vital to me. Trust is built on non-judgment, leading to feelings of safety. I offer a safe place for individuals to identify, explore, discuss, realize, contemplate, and discover.

Becky was very nice and pleasant but she was not a good fit for my son. I didn't get a good vibe when the first question she asked me was if my son was adopted. No this is my biological child that looks just like me! I was took back as I wrote a long email she requested to give her background on his situation before we had our appointment. Needless to say she didn't read it, very disappointing. He left feeling worse than he did walking in. I'm sure not her intentions but I don't think she is capable to address his issues he needs help with.
