Specializing In Helping Children, Adolescents, Couples & Families
FIND FREEDOM, ACCEPTANCE AND JOY
Welcome!
Everyone has something. Every family has something – something we struggle with, hoping it will magically disappear, fix itself, or that we can throw away.
We try stuffing away feelings of frustration, anxiety, anger, guilt, sadness, disappointment, fear, regret, or shame… Until they resurface again.
No matter what you or your family’s “something” is, identification and acknowledgement is the first step in beginning a personalized journey of discovery, understanding, awareness, and lastly, acceptance.
Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change.
Whether I am working with frantic parents of a newborn, a toddler who has elected himself boss of the home, a child who has continues to disobey at school, an adolescent believing his parents are stupid, a broken-hearted college girl, a couple dealing with infidelity, or a family who has experienced the death of a child, I make a practice to meet my patients where they are emotionally.
I want each person I work with to know they do have a voice, and by becoming accountable, they can change their lives for the better.
Our Unique Approach
My patients describe me as having an “out-of-the-box” approach with kids as well as adults. My office is purposefully designed to not be the typical clinical setting. Having no desire for a standard office setting, I created instead an atmosphere of uniqueness, comfort, and safety.
My support team includes a 39-pound Sulcata Tortoise, our Golden Retriever therapy dog and chicks!

Cancer in a Post Office Box
When told the news, I instantly felt that all too familiar gut feeling…. The one that immediately takes you to a familiar place. There I was again, mentally scanning the internal post office boxes created in my mind. My precious dad was a commercial airline pilot. I once asked him, “Daddy, how do you know […]
Part 1: Out of the Mouths of Babes…. All Grown Up Now
Dillon – Age 15 Dillon’s dream as a very young child was “to be a famous soccer player when I grow up”. Attending soccer camps, practices, and games, his life was geared around soccer from the time he was big enough to kick a ball. He was on select soccer teams and his parents supported […]
Part 2: Out of the Mouths of Babes…. All Grown up Now
Katie – Age 6 – Divorce I was introduced to Katie when she was 6 years old. Katie was a precious, well mannered, and polite little girl who loved creating art. Although quiet and reserved at first, Katie progressively allowed me to observe the depth of the emotional pain she was feeling through her artwork. […]
Part 3: Out of the Mouths of Babes…. Chase – age 17- Heroin
Several years ago, I received a phone call from the emergency room around 3:00 am. A nurse politely introduced herself and told me she had a 17-year-old male patient who had overdosed on heroin, been placed on life support, and transferred to the Intensive Care Unit. My business card was folded up and found in […]
Part 4: Out of the Mouths of Babes… Alli age 21
I sat looking at Alli (a junior in college) in my office, on my couch, pretty much in fetal position- sobbing. She was desperately trying to make sense out of the guy she had “slept with three times” who, now, was “acting like I don’t exist”. Ali beat this guy up verbally. Described him as […]
Part 5: Out of the Mouths of Babes… Corey
The first time I met Corey she was 13 years old. She and her mom came in and mom did all the talking until I asked to see Corey alone. Mom explained to me how withdrawn Corey had become- secluding herself in her room, barely responding when spoken to, getting angry and “throwing fits” for […]
Out of the Mouths of Babes…..all grown up now
Adam – Sexuality and Starting Over Starting over…We must be willing to let go of the life we have planned, so we can accept, appreciate, and be thankful for the life we have been given. The day I had the pleasure of meeting Adam, age 15, I unknowingly began what would prove to be a […]
Women and girls…Stop chasing guys!!!
Come on girls!!! Females over the age of 12!!!! Why can’t we finally get it? Stop chasing guys! Yes, our society is all about empowering girls and women! To take charge and go for what you want. Maybe so, but in the real world of guys, it hurts you. When you “take charge” and go […]
