Anxiety Relief With Three Easy Questions
I’m continuing our theme on anxiety for another month. This has been so life-changing for so many of my patients and followers. Reports of anxiety has increased significantly since the pandemic. I personally have a high percentage of patients coming into my practice specifically because of debilitating anxiety. This is a real and crippling issue.
Dr. Russell Kennedy, author of the groundbreaking book, Anxiety RX, says that much of what creates anxiety and alarm is:
- believing our own anxious thoughts and
- projecting ourselves out of the moment and into the future
Wow! Isn’t that the truth!
Last month, I wrote How to Stop Anxiety From Running Your Life. In it, I explain that anxiety is not the same as fear, but they are often used interchangeably. Anxiety is considered a future-oriented, long-acting response broadly focused on a diffuse threat, whereas fear is an appropriate, present-oriented, and short-lived response to a clearly identifiable and specific threat. But it doesn’t stop there. After studying Dr. Kennedy’s research, his theory, suggestions, proficiency, and expertise has changed my mind set on anxiety. He explains how we actually can heal anxiety with simple techniques…believing all anxiety comes from childhood trauma.
In this short video Dr Russell Kennedy shows you how to relieve anxiety and calm yourself by asking 3 simple questions that will calm and ground you so you can feel more at peace in your own mind and body. This is a very simple and effective process to help feel better when you are trapped in anxiety.
Ask Yourself These Questions In Your Moment of Anxiety
- Am I safe in the moment?
- What am I grateful for?
- Where in my body do I not feel anxiety/alarm?
